Daniella Hehmann photography

Daniella studied American Cultural History and Literature at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

In 1999 she graduated with a masters thesis on photography "Essay on he Photography of Paul Strand".

Early in her studies, she took an interest in the visual media where the masters of Film Noir, Fritz Lang, Elia Kazan,

Orson Wells and the photography of Diane Arbus, Nan Goldin and Cindy Sherman especially influenced her.

The discourse about the relativistic and feministic writings of Margaret Mead, Naomi Wolf and Kathy Acker initiated

an ongoing process of experimenting with the self as a cultural being. Questioning and crossing

borders between genders and cultures, between the inside and the outside, are among her recurring

topics. Daniella lives and works in Munich and Los Angeles.
